Biography:

Camille Fauré (1874-1956) was a French enamel artist from Limoges. He is best known for his work designing enamels for companies manufacturing Limoges porcelain. Floral and figurative motifs in richly glazed colors are his signature.
At the beginning of the 20th century, he sold his creations in Paris at the Au Vase Etrusque boutique. There, he produced and exhibited vases, bowls, ashtrays, boxes, and other objects.
In 1919, he exhibited at the Lyon Fair. Later, he also participated in the Paris Fair. These two events provided his 20 employees with enough work for the entire year.

In 1919, a notable partnership was formed between him and Alexandre Marty (1876 - 1943). This collaboration led to innovation in the field of enameling, with the development of new methods of enamel production, particularly flamed and frosted enamels. Under the brand name "Fauré et Marty", they designed and exhibited various pieces, including a limited series of gold, silver and copper pendants, decorated with enamel. However, their collaboration ended in early 1925.
The 1925 International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts marked Fauré's breakthrough. He became the most famous enameller in Limoges. Other Limoges enamellers active in the 1920s included Paul Bonnaud, Jules Sarlandie, and Henriette Marty.
In 1925, Fauré established his own business in Limoges. He employed five enamelers: Lucie Dadat, Pierre Bardy, Louis Valade, Marcelle Decouty-Védrenne, and Jeanne Soubourou. They were free to design under the brand name "C. Fauré Limoges." The company specialized in the production of signs and advertising plaques for stores, as well as in painting and interior design. This specialization coincided with the rise of department stores at that time.

His works are found in private collections as well as at the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Limoges; the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, part of the Louvre; the Museum für Angewandte Kunst (Cologne); the Musée de l'Horlogerie et de l'Emaillerie in Geneva, Switzerland; the Vittoriale degli Italiani in Brescia, Lombardy; and in the United States: at the Kirkland Museum of Fine & Decorative Art in Denver, the Corning Museum of Glass and the Cooper Hewitt, the Smithsonian Design Museum in New York, the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, the Walters Art Museum in Baltimore, and the Smart Museum of Art in Chicago, among others.
