Suji bachi kabuto with 62 slats, signed Joshu-JU Saotome Ieharu, early Edo period (like all Saotome), circa 1650. Impeccably made and finished, this helmet is representative of the superior range produced by the Saotome workshops. Deep chocolate patina, perfectly forged quality steel. The precision of this blacksmith's work is obvious, with great elegance and sobriety. The finishing touches, such as the tehen and the fine engraved shakudo fukurin around the visor, show just how luxurious this helmet is. The rivets on the mabisachi represent three magatama in a spiral, in fact a whirlpool or vortex used as a religious symbol (Shintoism, Buddhism) and ‘mitsudomoe' warrior symbol. It is presented with a menpo ressei mi edo at 3800€ and a maedate shi shi end Edo not included in the price of the helmet (its price is 600€).
