Jane Le Soudier (born in Le Mans on 18 February 1885 and died in Paris in 1976) was a French sculptor, draughtswoman and pastellist. She specialised above all in the animal genre.
Biography
Jane Le Soudier was awarded the Prix de Dessin by the City of Paris at the age of fourteen, the silver medal by the town of Le Tréport in 1908 and the gold medal by the town of Dinan in 1909. She was a pupil of the landscape painter Henri Harpignies and took sculpture lessons from the animal sculptor Georges Gardet.
She created bronze and stone sculptures from her drawings in her studio in Montparnasse, where she remained active until her death at the age of ninety-two.
She became an officer of the Académie in 1925 and was awarded a bronze medal for sculpture at the 1925 International Arts Exhibition and an honourable mention at the Salon des Artistes Français the following year.
She was awarded the Prix Montyon and the Gold Medal of the French Federation of Devotion in 1935.
