Bronze sculpture by the French artist Jean-Philippe Richard. He has practiced modeling for thirty years and has a figurative approach to sculpture, exploring only the non-realistic female figure. A self-taught artist, the sculptor works without a model, which allows him to free himself from the constraints of reality. His sculptures are recognizable by a finished form that remains partially embedded in a roughly hewn base. The consistently striking result is a balance between a model seemingly bound within the raw mass and a momentum given to the work, which thus appears ready to break free. The sculptor carries within him the expression of a profound sensitivity; these women are beings lost in a world apart, viewed from the outside, a world with a binary rhythm, symbolized by both its strength and its gentleness.
