Antoine Nelson was a Belgian sculptor who was born in Brussels in 1849 and died in 1910. Born into a family of artists, he was the son and pupil of the sculptor Auguste Van Den Kerckhove. Active from 1880, he acquired a significant reputation in the field of sculpture. After a stay in London, he settled in Paris from 1890 to 1910. Specialising in busts, Antoine Nelson was also known for his sculptures of figures and monuments. His work was recognised for its finesse and realism. He took part in numerous exhibitions, both in Belgium and abroad, where he received rave reviews. His work reflects great technical mastery and notable artistic sensitivity. In addition to his busts, he created several commemorative monuments and public sculptures. Antoine Nelson left a lasting legacy in the world of Belgian and French sculpture. His works are held in various museums and private collections. His style is often compared to that of his contemporaries, with a personal touch that makes it unique. Despite his death in 1910, the influence of his art lives on in his creations. He is still celebrated today for his contribution to the sculpture of his time.
