Magnificent wooden sculpture by Auguste Guénot, co-founder of the Société des Artistes Méridionaux.
French sculptor Auguste Guénot was born on October 25, 1882 in Toulouse (Haute-Garonne).
The son of a master cabinetmaker, he began his apprenticeship in his father's workshop and went on to perfect his skills with various craftsmen.
In 1895, he enrolled at the école des Beaux-Arts, before moving to Paris in 1899.
Back in Toulouse, he was exempted from military service due to an accident.
His family left for Paris at the end of 1919.
He took part in the International Decorative Art Exhibitions, the 1931 Colonial Exhibition and the 1937 International Exhibition.
Auguste Guénot died on April 25, 1966 in Versailles (Yvelines).
