Raoul Larche (1860-1912).
Raoul Larche was a French Art Nouveau sculptor who created dynamic and sensual sculptures. One of his most famous works is this lamp inspired by the American dancer Loie Fuller, who showed off her innovative performances in Parisian nightclubs and theaters with silk cloths and theatrical lighting effects.
Loie Fuller lived from 1862 to 1901 and was a pioneer of modern dance and theatrical lighting. She became a celebrity Folies Bergere In Paris with her “Serpentine dance“ in which she used floor lamps that illuminated her silk cloths from below to create the illusion of fire, flowers or butterflies flying around.
THE LAMP:
This lamp is considered one of his masterpieces of art nouveau. This lamp is exhibited in important museau.
The scene concerns the dancer Loie Fuller who is swinging a silk cloth above her head. The two lamps that illuminate the image is hidden in the flared cloth above her head.
This large version of the art nouveau lamp is made of gilded bronze.
