Rare and expressive pair of English bulldogs in polychrome terracotta, representing two seated dogs, with powerful modeling and a typically Victorian character.
The sculptures exhibit excellent modeling quality, with a very naturalistic treatment of the heads, heavy lips, skin folds and stocky bodies, characteristic of the representation of the Victorian Bulldog, a symbol of strength and loyalty in 19th century England.
