A proud barnyard animal, this rooster is made from assembled metal parts. He has a handsome appearance with his raised leg and long tail, and surveys his surroundings with his large, round eye.
Brutalist sculpture signed Jacques Dufrane.
Dimensions: H: 36.5 x 37 x 20 cm, D: 7.2 kg. Circular base with a radius of 20 cm.
Provenance: piece from a private collection, acquired from a gallery in 2008.
The artist, Jacques Dufrane, is Belgian, born in 1947 in Binche. Passionate about art but initially working as a foundryman in an industrial setting, Jacques Dufrane draws all his inspiration from this professional experience, both in terms of techniques and motifs. Having become a painter, sculptor, and assemblage artist, he uses these small, carefully selected and welded metal pieces to create unique works that are also like an ode to metallurgy.
