Superb head of Horse foundry Harzé, wax lost. I have received confirmation from the founder that this is a unique work circa 1990.
This work is inspired by the famous horse head in the Naples museum .
Inaugurated in May 2018, "Le Défi" features a black horse and a white horse facing each other, one in bronze and the other in marble.
Originally conceived by the artist to take pride of place on the Place Bara, this monumental work was acquired by the Commune of Anderlecht in 2002 and exhibited for several years at the Maison des Artistes.
The pioneering French artist Daniel Monic (1948-2015) began drawing and painting at an early age. He joined the French Navy in Toulon. There, he painted the sea and boats. Fallen in love with the dullness of the North Sea, he moved to Brussels in the late 70s and devoted himself entirely to his art. For almost 30 years, he lived in the Triangle district of Anderlecht, where he also had his own studio.
A free, visionary and versatile artist, Daniel Monic expressed himself primarily through painting and sculpture, but also through video, drawing and computer graphics. Collectors soon began to follow him and buy his paintings.
