Etling Paris foundry mark with bronze stamp
Alexandre Kéléty (b. 18741, Budapest; d. 1940) was a Hungarian sculptor.
Alexandre Kéléty's date of birth is not mentioned in the literature.
He was active as an artist, sculptor, painter and engraver from 1918 until his death in 1940.
Kéléty married Hélène Grün Kéléty, daughter of naturalized French Russian painter Maurice Grün.
At the end of the First World War, he emigrated to France, where he became a pupil of the Hungarian painter and engraver Imre Karoly Simay in Toulouse. He then studied in Paris.
His work often depicts animals and childhood themes. He also produces chryselephantine busts and statuettes of dancers and mythological figures in the Art Deco style.
His preferred materials are bronze, ivory, marble and ceramics.
He exhibited several times at the Salon de la Société des artistes français in Paris.
In 1927, he presented a terracotta bust. In 1928 and 1930, he presented bronze and ivory figurines. These were manufactured by the art publisher Arthur Goldscheider. At the 1925 Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes, his work was shown on both the Goldscheider and Edmond Etling stands. At the 1937 Paris World's Fair, he presented sculptures created and adapted by Goldscheider.
