Jean-François Gambino is a sculptor with a spectacular bestiary, whose spontaneous execution translates the energy of the wild world with strength and accuracy.
He always strives for rapid execution of the animals he models, producing sculptures with raw lines and subtle matte patinas, always with great accuracy.
His talent enables him to create works that capture the very essence of the animals, with an expressiveness and technical mastery that masterfully underline their strength and energy in a remarkable way and with striking authenticity.
This spontaneity of execution translates to the highest degree the strength, vital and often intuitive energy that each animal must generate to assert itself and survive.
In 2020, he won the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation competition in London in the "Facing Extinction" category with his sculpture "Paradis Perdu".
Jean-François Gambino's unique style appeals to all audiences, and his animal bronzes are now among the most sought-after on the French market.
Jean-François Gambino was born in Paris in 1966. He began his career working for over ten years in the after-sales department of the famous Cartier jewelry store on Rue de la Paix in Paris.
It was not until much later, in 1997, that he learned and discovered from sculptor Chantal Adam the particular technique of terracotta and patinas made from natural pigments. Having assimilated the basic elements of modelling and his growing enthusiasm for this means of expression, he changed career direction in 2003, becoming an animal sculptor.
His bestiary is essentially made up of African animals. He always emphasizes the need for rapid execution of the animals he models. It's this spontaneity of execution that best expresses the vital, often intuitive energy that each animal must generate to survive and assert itself.
