Here is a rare creation by the renowned Russian-born French wrought-iron craftsman Michel Zadounaà¯sky.
This is a mirror in the pure art deco animal style, made in patinated wrought iron around 1935.
This famous designer from Lyon was spotted by Raymond Subes, another great master wrought-iron craftsman, who wanted to hire him.
But Michel Zadounaà¯sky opened his own workshop in 1924 and presented his work for the first time in 1925 at the Salon d'Automne in an interior designed by André Sornay.
His world of original creations is mainly inspired by the animal world, embellished with interlacing plants.
Recognised at an early age for his undeniable talent, the artist received numerous awards during his lifetime.
He was awarded the gold medal for craftsmanship and entered the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris in 1957 with an extraordinary rhinoceros made in 1946.
The mirror offered for sale is in good condition, with the usual wear and light oxidation.
The bevelled mirror is original.
So this is a fine, well-preserved decorative piece by a recognised designer.
