Roger GUERIN (1896 - 1954), stoneware vase with bird decoration, 1946, turned, cut and glazed stoneware / salt fired, H: 45 cm. Unique piece, signed and dated intaglio under the base + side. Signature n° 17 listed in: Fauconnier M. & Migeot JC, Sel et Feu, les grès d'art de Bouffioulx et de Châtelet de 1900 à 1960, Bouffioulx, Le vieux Châtelet, 1995.
A student of Willem Delsaux, Roger Guérin learned to throw pottery in two potteries in Châtelet. From 1918 to 1951, he founded several companies through which he produced artistic and architectural stoneware while also teaching at the Institut Supérieur des Arts Décoratifs de la Cambre in Brussels. He collaborated with numerous Belgian and foreign artists and participated in numerous exhibitions.
