Ovoid vase with a wide scalloped neck in stoneware glazed in mat green and smooth white, glazed in smooth blue inside.
Made by Ernest D'Hossche ( Studio d'Art ) in the Boch Frères Kéramis workshops around 1940/1950, still under the influence of Art Deco.
In perfect condition and fully waterproof.
BFK Studio d'Art stamp proper to Ernest D'Hossche + "D.3034" for decoration number + "188" for shape number.
Biography:
Ernest D'Hossche joined the Boch Frères Kéramis pottery as an apprentice at a very young age and was soon spotted by Charles Catteau. He worked closely with the great ceramist Raymond Chevalier and Léon Empein, and later became their artistic advisor, creating the "Studio d'Art" workshop. He produced numerous models of crockery, dishes, vases, ceramic and stoneware sculptures, notably for Expo 58, with an innovative, even avant-garde approach.
Professor at the Provincial Institute of Arts and Crafts in Charleroi, he was coordinator of the practical work of the Decorative Arts. He trained many painters and ceramists.
