ETALEUNE is the brand name for pressed glass vases and objects produced by àtablissements LEUNE. Located at 28bis, rue du Cardinal Lemoine in the 5th arrondissement of Paris, this factory was active between 1900 and 1930, creating pieces of glass painted with hot-set enamel as well as numerous blown and pressed moulded glasses. It is often claimed that Etaleune was founded by Edmond Etling, although this story remains to be confirmed. This association is sometimes used to give extra prestige to mass-produced glassworks. It would be more accurate to associate Leune with other important figures in the glass industry, notably Paul Daum, son of Auguste Daum, who is said to have run the company in the early 1920s. In addition, Auguste Claude Heiligenstein, artistic director between 1923 and 1926, designed many models for the brand. Like many glassworks, Leune ceased trading after the Great Depression.
