Exceptional and unique pair of Art Deco ceramic vases by LOUIS RANDOUR, made at the Faïencerie de Saint Ghislain in Belgium, dating from the 1930s.
In very good original condition.
Hand painted decorations by Louis Randour, signed in the decoration (see photos), earthenware stamps under the vases.
Probably order parts.
Refined decorations by a potter and a sower, enhanced with gold, made in the spirit of Wiener Werkstätte or Gio Ponti (Sèvres porcelain).
Biography:
The Saint Ghislain factory was founded in 1892 by François and Antoine Dubois and Emile Lombart who came from the earthenware factory in Wasmuel.
Emile Lombart will then be the sole manager of the company which produces crockery and fancy objects and exports them to Asia, North Africa and America.
Several artists will lend their knowledge and techniques, including Louis Randour, highly prized by collectors for his stylized and geometric Art Deco decorations, but also Gobert, Stoffyn, Voets ...
The company will then be called the Saint Ghislain Art Workshops Cooperative Society, whose motto is "art for all".
The works of the manufacture will be admired by the public at exhibitions in Paris in 1925 and 1937, but also in Brussels in 1935.
The company will close its doors in 1963.
