Moser Karlsbad, design by Josef Hoffmann (Wiener Werkstätte), Bohemia circa 1925.
Vase in cobalt-blue crystal of great purity, cut with remarkable precision into geometric facets.
The use of rare and precious cobalt blue crystal underlines the influence of the Modernist and Art Deco movements.
A highly elegant, avant-garde object from Central Europe in the 1920s.
Vase in perfect condition.
Biography:
Founded in 1857 by Ludwig Moser in Carlsbad, the Moser company began as an engraving workshop and developed into a renowned manufacturer of high-quality glass. After acquiring a factory in 1893, Moser employed 400 people and received several awards, including medals at the Vienna (1873) and Panama-Pacific (1915) International Exhibitions.
Official supplier to the Austrian and British imperial courts in the early 20th century, Moser excelled in Art Nouveau glass, using innovative techniques such as Eckentiefgravur. Under Leo Moser, the company reached a pinnacle by winning the Grand Prix at the Exposition des Arts Décoratifs in Paris in 1925.
Despite the economic crisis of the 1930s, the Second World War and nationalisation under the Communist regime, Moser retained its international prestige thanks to the quality and signature of its work, particularly the Fipop series.
