A very fine vase by the great French glassmaker Claude Monod. Son of Eloi Monod, founder of the famous Biot glassworks, Claude Monod (1944-1990) and his wife Isabelle Monod (born in Geneva in 1945) are among the glass artists who have marked the revival of independent workshops in Europe.
L'Atelier du Touron, created in 1976 in the hinterland of Nice, has become an internationally recognised centre for exchange and creation. Claude and Isabelle have developed a demanding artistic approach that focuses from the outset on the effects of material and texture.
Claude Monod reveals all the magic and richness of glass. He lends his pieces the ambiguous appearance of polished stone urns and the refined look of sleek sculptures.
