Superb Italian Baroque mirror in carved and openwork wood, featuring an extremely elaborate rocaille decoration and a great richness of execution.
The frame is entirely handcrafted, with a remarkable interplay of volutes, foliage, cartouches and scrolls characteristic of the Baroque style of northern Italy.
The upper part is adorned with a sculpted figure in high relief, set within a rocaille setting. The deep openwork testifies to virtuoso craftsmanship, typical of 18th-century Italian workshops.
The feet are integrated into the frame's decor in a continuous upward movement, according to a typology specific to Venice and Piedmont.
Original glass. Wear and tear, pitted mirror backing due to age.
