Julien STAPPERS (1875-1960), Oil on canvas, Bouquet of carnations in a porcelain vase. Belgian artist, painter of flowers and still lifes. Signed lower right. Dimensions 50x60cm unframed. 70x80 with frame. Note 2 accidents on the frame. Trained at the Antwerp Academy with A. De Vriendt (1894 - 1899), at the Antwerp Higher Institute of Fine Arts (1899 - 1901). First exhibition in 1903. Painter of flowers, but also of city views and (southern) landscapes. A classical realist, he remained faithful throughout his life to his pictorial choices on the bangs of the artistic currents of his time.
