Flower painter, watercolorist, and wood decorator from Spa (a spa town in Belgium). Alexandre Debrus is a self-taught artist who is appreciated by English tourists passing through the city of bobelins. He spent a month in London where he practiced his talent. He particularly excelled in the rendering of roses delicately beaded with dewdrops. In 1876, he participated and was noticed at the International Exhibition in Philadelphia. He is one of the sons of the painter JN Debrus.
Here we have a work for which he made his name. It is in its original frame and is in good condition. Signed and dated lower right.
