A rare and elegant polychrome porcelain sculpture, created and hand-painted by the Guilia Mangani factory.
It represents a crested wading bird, probably a lapwing, meticulously colored. Its legs are in gilded bronze, and it rests on a square base in black melamine-coated wood, set on a brass base...
Typical of the 1970s/80s, this piece is in the Hollywood Regency style.
Signed under the tail, it is in perfect condition.
Guilia Mangani's works (notably toucan, marine fish, scorpion fish, fantastic birds,...), are recognized and sold in the world's leading decorating boutiques, notably in the USA under the 'Oggetti' banner.

Biography:
At the end of the 19th century, the Manganis were a family of sculptors working from father to son.
At the beginning of the 20th century, Cesarino Mangani ran his own workshop in Florence, where he collaborated with his five children on commissions for English, French and American clients who owned villas in the city's vicinity.
Among the five children, Alfiero Mangani, after working as a ceramist-sculptor at the prestigious Florentine Zaccagnini factory until 1955-1956, opened a small ceramics and porcelain workshop in Florence, where he was assisted by his young sons, Ivan and Lando.
Later, they established a laboratory in the "Doccia" region of Sesto Fiorentino, an area already renowned for its prestigious porcelain tradition, thanks in particular to Richard Ginori.
As fate would have it, the famous Tiffany house collaborated with the Mangani family, seduced by the exceptional quality of a porcelain cup made with remarkable craftsmanship.
Lando's heirs, Giulia and Lorenzo Mangani, created the Giulia Mangani brand, continuing the historic tradition of Florentine porcelain in Italy.
