Marcel Catelein was a self-taught artist active from 1914 to 1974, whose studio was originally located at 38, rue de Romainville in Montreuil-sous-Bois. He is best known for having created a fresco for the town hall of this municipality in the 1930s. His artistic output focused mainly on seascapes, in particular scenes of boats at dockside. Although he took part in an exhibition in 1935 at the 46th Salon des Indépendants in Paris, he remains relatively unknown to the general public.
