Large sculpture of Dominique Pouchain, signed D.Pouchain. Uncommon model of a goat with udders. In a perfect state Biography: Dominique Pouchain was born in France in 1956. At the age of 17, he stopped studying and began to make pottery in the workshop of his father, Jacques Pouchain, known potter of the 50s. At 19, he becomes a craftsman and makes the production of sandstone utility pottery. It was in 1981 that he began to make unique pieces. In 1990, he entered the House of Artists. At that time, his creations mainly represent highly stylized animals, he found his style. Various exhibitions in France, Germany and Switzerland. His current work uses all the ceramic techniques: the lathe, the modeling, the stamping. He refuses to be qualified as a sculptor and loudly claims the title of potter. His work is very spontaneous, he almost never sketches and creates his pieces in a single shot. All the pieces are coated with two oxides: manganese and copper, which gives this dark and slightly coppery hue, which could also be reminiscent of bronze. The colors are engobes prepared by itself and the brilliance obtained on the colored parts is the Mediterranean enamel by definition: the alquifoux, which is none other than galena of lead. The tools used for finishing are very rudimentary. He uses, for example, an old pen to make the eyes, a painter's brush to pass the engobes and even uses the handle of the brush as needed. The small notches that appear on some parts are made using a shoe tree; this technique is called guilloche. Stylized, imaginary, dreamlike: these are the three adjectives he uses to describe his work.
