Sculpture by Domien Ingels representing a hunting dog (Braque type) edited in 'grand feu salted sandstone' by Roger Guérin in Bouffioulx in the 1920s, green and blue enamelling with crystallizations, rare and qualitative piece. In the mind of Arthur Craco.
In perfect condition.
Signed 'D. Ingels' under covered on terrace and 'Guérin' under the piece, this piece is rare (if not unique) and comes from a private collection, it was presented at the exhibition of the Clockarium museum in Brussels in 2007/2008 and is included in the full catalog of this exhibition 'Au Gré du Grès, de l'Art Nouveau à l'Art Déco, Roger Guérin and Edgard Aubry', page 68 and at the end of the catalog, see photos.
Biography of Domien Ingels:
Born in 1881, Domien Ingels is one of the best Belgian sculptors of the Art Deco period, like Alberic Collin, Thierry Van Rijswijck or Raymond de Meester de Betzenbroeck .... Son of a butcher, Ingels is best known for his powerful animal figures. , both in attitude and gesture (Draft horses, farmyard animals, dogs such as the Borzoi greyhound), his favorite subject nevertheless remains the draft horse. Pieces edited in Bronze, porcelain stoneware (Roger Guérin and Ceramaes, Maes), Terracotta, plaster ...
He took a course in the studio of Domien Van den Bossche and Hippolyte Le Roy. He also attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent. In 1900, he became assistant professor and taught drawing and sculpture until 1941. He shared a workshop at the Beguinage in Ghent with his friend C. Permeke (1886-1952).
Numerous collaborations with the sandstone publisher Roger Guérin in Bouffioulx and the Maes workshops in Ghent (Ceramaes).
He died in 1946, leaving behind a remarkable and remarkable work.
Numerous works in museums, monumental works in different cities of Belgium.
