Splendid prestigious jardinière in high-fire earthenware, from the workshops of the famous Tours factory Jaget and Pinon (period 1890-1919).
This masterpiece is distinguished by its "Eagles and Bees" decoration, the noblest and most sought-after iconography of Touraine production.
Colour & Enamel: Empire green background enamel of rare depth, obtained by high-fire firing, offering a striking contrast with the gilding
Ornamentation: Rich decoration in fine gold composed of two facing Imperial Eagles and a scattering of Napoleonic bees
Side pieces: Ornate handles in relief depicting oak branches laden with acorns, emblems of strength and perpetuity, entirely enhanced with gold.
Frieze: Collar encircled by a frieze of neoclassical scrolls and palmettes on a dark green band.
In perfect condition. Very glossy enamel. Gilding showing slight wear consistent with age and use on the raised areas.
