Didier Gardillou's famous flowers or fruits are more real than life.
This strawberry plant and its foliage are entirely made of porcelain, shaped, decorated, and assembled by hand. The whole piece is supported by small metal rods placed in a terracotta pot.

DIDIER GARDILLOU, Ceramic artist for over 30 years. Master of trompe-l'oeil and porcelain flowers, he is the only one in Europe to achieve a realism more lifelike than nature in his creations.

His career path:

Didier Gardillou, an aptitude in the visual arts, a visit to the Adrien Dubouché Museum would definitively orient him towards the applied arts to the earth.
1972-1977 Training at the ENAD in Limoges directed by Jean-Jacques Prolongeau. He became his student and collaborator in the workshop and participated in the 1% architectural projects and in the production of shaped pieces (stoneware, earthenware, painting on porcelain…).
1979 Winner of the French Chamber of Ceramists and Art Workshops. 1st prize at the Art Workshops exhibition for his entire body of work presented (biscuit porcelain sculptures and enameled porcelain in low-fire colors).
1981: Exhibition at MAD Paris for "Contemporary French Ceramics, Sources and Currents". Porcelain and trompe-l'œil decorations.
1983: Gold Medal at the Paris Fair. 1st prize in the creativity competition, fine crafts fair (sculpture in nine elements). Exhibition in Tokyo in partnership with the Printemps department store, Ateliers d'art de France, Air France and the Paris Chamber of Commerce.
1982: Purchases by the Presidency of the Republic for Denmark and Spain (cabbage terrine, shaped pieces).
In the early 1990s, Master Prolongeau joined the student in his workshop to collaborate on decorations on porcelain (vases and cups).
Permanent exhibitions in Gstaad.
Works in private collections in France, Switzerland, USA, Japan, United Kingdom, Belgium, Spain, Italy… and public collections at the Sèvres and London Museums.
Passionate about nature, flowers, and both antique and contemporary ceramics, he draws inspiration from illusionistic ceramics and makes us dream through his trompe-l'œil creations, not to mention his magnificent flowers and floral arrangements.
