A highly respected Art Deco glassmaker and well-known producer of geometrically designed pieces, particularly decanters, jug sets, vases, candleholders, vanity sets, toilet sets and perfume bottles.
The period for which Karl Palda is most famous stretches from 1933 to 1938, when striking and inventive geometric motifs moved away from classical sculpted floral designs.
Little is known about the glassmakers and artists active at Karl Palda during the Art Deco period, and most dealers and collectors rely on their own experience and years of personal research, as well as on the 1938 factory catalog, which outlines the product range for identification purposes. This complete catalog is now in the Corning Glass Museum.
