Here's a beautiful coffee table produced by Belgian ceramist Julien Covemaeker in his Ostend workshop circa 1960 under the name J.Belarti, his publishing house. This is a rare model for two reasons. Firstly, its dimensions are unusual in the artist's output: 110 cm long, but above all 63 cm wide. His tables are often much narrower and shorter. Secondly, the decorative motif is unusual, especially in this magnificent bright blue. This table is composed of 28 glazed ceramic tiles. The tabletop rests on a satin-finish black-lacquered iron base. The table is signed. It is in exceptional condition given its age, over 60 years. A very practical table in terms of its dimensions, highly decorative and luminous, all in exceptionally fresh condition.
