Paul SORMANI - Louis XV rosewood desk ca 1867. Paul SORMANI (1817-1877) was an Italian cabinetmaker based in Paris, known for his Louis XV and Louis XVI furniture. He opened his first workshop in 1847 at 7, cimetière Saint-Nicolas, then moved in 1854 to 114, rue du Temple, and finally in 1867 to 10, rue Charlot. His creations met with great success, notably with Empress Eugénie, wife of Napoleon III, who chose his furniture to furnish her residences.
