The Vere, Verre, Were, Duru-Verre and Dii live in northeastern Nigeria, in the state of Adamawa (formerly Gongola), as well as in northern Cameroon. This small community lives in circular huts grouped together in fortified villages. Vere statuettes, the function of which remains uncertain, are uncommon and bear some resemblance to the works of the Mumuye, who live close to the border between Nigeria and Cameroon.
