Painter. Regentat in plastic arts at the Ecole Normale de Mons. Began as an expressionist and moved towards abstraction and constructivism around 1961. In 1967, he returned to figuration, first in a still synthesised style, then in a more realistic style. He created a world of astonishing, solitary, anguished characters, sometimes reminiscent of Breughel or Jérà´me Bosch. They don't really seem to fit into this world, and seek the company of animals rather than their fellow human beings. In 1968, he co-founded the Figure Quatre group with Marcel Delmotte and Christian Hocquet. Bibliography: Le dictionnaire des artistes plasticiens de Belgique des 19e et 20e siècles by Paul Piron.
