Series of 3 small paintings. One measures 18cm by 13cm. The other two measure 22cm by 17cm.
Magnificent stylized Judaica composition.
Zoltan Perlmutter was an Expressionist painter and sculptor. He was born in Deva, Romania (then Transylvania). He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cluj and graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Bucharest. His mediums are oil, acrylic, gouache, charcoal drawings and bronze sculptures. His work is influenced by Mane-Katz and Marc Chagall. In 1950, he emigrated to Israel.
His first major exhibition in Tel Aviv dates back to 1953, organized and opened by Vera Weizman, wife of Israel's first president. Jewish images and scenes of Israel are prevalent in his paintings and sculptures. He has since lived in London, where he founded the Helm Stet Art Academy, and in Düsseldorf.
He has had over 60 solo exhibitions since 1953 in places as far afield as Amsterdam, Sydney, Caracas, Paris, Montreal and Accra. He has also cast over 22 different sculptures, most of them depicting Jewish themes. His works can be found in many museums, including the Herzlia Museum in Israel, the National Museum in Bucharest, the Stadt Museum in Romania, the Cathedral Museum in Malta and the Royal Academy of Music in London.
In 1978, the book Zoltan Perlmutter was published by Westvlaamse, Drukkerij & Uitgeverij, and edited by Jacques Serruys, documenting his life and work at that time, with color and black & white photos of his paintings, charcoal drawings and bronzes
