Samuel Herman De Rosenthal was a renowned British designer and ceramicist, best known for his work in the 1960s with the Studio Line for the German porcelain manufacturer Rosenthal AG. Born in 1934 in London, De Rosenthal studied at the Central School of Arts and Crafts in London, where he developed his skills in design and ceramics.

In the 1960s, De Rosenthal joined Rosenthal AG, a company that had already gained an international reputation for the quality of its porcelain and its commitment to contemporary design. With the creation of the Studio Line, Rosenthal sought to collaborate with innovative designers to produce pieces that embodied the modern aesthetic of the time.

De Rosenthal's contribution to the Studio Line was remarkable. He brought a distinctive, experimental style to his designs, combining organic forms with abstract patterns and innovative glazing techniques. His pieces were often bold and avant-garde, pushing the boundaries of conventional ceramics and reflecting the spirit of freedom and experimentation of the 1960s.
