Biography:
Giacomo Sinopoli was an Italian designer active in the 1970s, known for his collaborations with the Roman company Liwan's. He was part of the modernist design movement, combining geometric rigour with refined materials. His creations, notably jewellery boxes and decorative objects, are distinguished by their use of chrome-plated metal, coloured glass and meticulous details. Today, his pieces are sought after for their understated and timeless aesthetic, characteristic of Italian design from this period.
Liwan's - Rome:
Liwan's is a design and decorative object publishing house established in Rome in the 1960s-1970s. It specialised in the manufacture of modernist pieces with clean lines, often in brushed metal, brass and glass. Collaborating with Italian designers such as Giacomo Sinopoli, Liwan's produced a limited series of elegant objects combining functionality and aesthetics. Although little documented, the company is now enjoying renewed interest among collectors of mid-century Italian design.
