Abstract painting signed and attributed to Ferdinand Vonck, oil on canvas around 1950.
Signed lower right "Vonck", probably a youthful work, quite precursory in style.
In beautiful condition, recently cleaned and restored, there were three small holes in the canvas (see photos of the back of the painting).
Biography:
Ferdinand Vonck known as Fernand Vonck (1921 Blankenberge - 2010 Bruges) was a Belgian abstract painter and sculptor. He studied at the Bruges Academy but was mainly considered self-taught.
In 1952 he became a member of the art group "Art Abstrait" and in 1957 of the group "Formes", co-founders of the group "L'Art Construit" in 1960 (constructivism). In 1953 he was awarded a prize by the Province of West Flanders, and in 1956 and 1957 he received the distinction of the "Jeune Peinture Belge" (Young Belgian Painting) and the "Jonge Belgische Beeldhouw kunst" (Young Belgian Sculpture).
In 1958 he was selected for the World Exhibition in Brussels.
