A polymorphous artist - painter, illustrator and sculptor - Aslan became famous in the 1960s, when the legendary magazine Lui commissioned him to create one pin-up per issue. This collaboration lasted until 1981, and in its own way bears witness to the sexual liberation of France.
Working from photographs in an ultra-realistic style, Aslan delivers striking paintings of the proud, uninhibited women of his time. He paints young girls in bloom, redheads, blondes and brunettes, as well as the idols of the 1970s, Françoise Hardy, France Gall, Sheila... In all, nearly 250 pin-ups, each one a landmark of their time, have accompanied generations of Lui readers.
