Biography:
Luc Perot (Namur 1922 - 1985) was a Belgian post-expressionist painter. He trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Namur and studied under Albert Dandoy and Paul Delvaux at La Cambre (Brussels) in the monumental painting studio. In 1950, he became a professor at the Academy of Namur. He was influenced by Flemish expressionism (Rik Wouters, etc.) as well as Belgian symbolism (Léon Spilliaert, etc.) and Henri Matisse. He expressed himself through lyrical abstraction tinged with symbolism, where dreams, mystery and colour dominate. His works are imbued with a singular intimacy and a definite plastic force, finding inspiration in his life, the world around him and the representation of women. Indifferent to fashion, Luc Perot managed to move seamlessly from black and white to the most intense colours, as evidenced by his extensive output. From 1945 onwards, he exhibited in Namur and throughout the country (Ostend, etc.), including, in 1974, in Laethem-St-Martin, alongside Léon Spilliaert and Paul Delvaux, two undisputed masters of Belgian painting. He also exhibited at various times throughout France and Poland, both in group and solo exhibitions. He received several prizes and distinctions. His work is present in many collections, both private and public.
