Signed and dated lower left - Denyse Willem 70' - named and countersigned on the back “The Secret - Denyse Willem, 19 rue de l'académie Liege”.

This is an early work, created when the artist was only 27 years old, demonstrating true technical prowess.

In good condition, the work is perfectly showcased by its original frame, which is in perfect condition. Ideally, the slightly yellowed mat should be replaced.

Representation:

These three united and ethereal naked women with long hair seem to communicate in silence, bathed in a soft and fluid atmosphere. They evoke the Aurae, mythological nymphs of air and wind. Their bodies seem to float outside of time, carried by an immaterial lightness, an invisible breath.

Nothing is said and everything is suggested: a secret circulates between them. Their closeness, far from being carnal, becomes the language of the soul, a confidence conveyed not by the voice, but by the air itself, a discreet messenger of what is never fully revealed.



Biography:

Denyse Willem (born in 1943) is a Belgian painter trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Liège. Active in Brussels, she has been developing a symbolic universe since the 1960s, where female figures and fantastical elements meet. Her work combines drawing, gouache, and mixed media on paper, in a style close to surrealism.
