Jonathan De Cesare, Marine, pastel on paper – 30 × 40 cm
"The boats rest, cradled by the light. The water reflects their calm, like an echo of the silence of the port."
Biography
Born into a world steeped in creativity, Jonathan De Cesare grew up alongside a mother who was a comic book colorist, who instilled in him a love of drawing and color from a very young age. A precocious artist, he held his first exhibition at fifteen and won several drawing competitions as a child.
A painter and draftsman, he explores techniques with remarkable freedom: oil, pastel, watercolor, and even ballpoint pen. An official artist for the Royal Talens brand for the past eight years, he had the honor of exhibiting at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam for the 350th anniversary of Rembrandt's death. He is now pursuing his path to becoming an official painter of the Belgian Navy, a move perfectly aligned with his passion for the sea.
His work, influenced by classical art and the masters of the Renaissance, unfolds between realism and poetry. Fascinated by light and movement, he seeks to capture in his seascapes and landscapes all the intensity of the world.
In parallel, Jonathan works as a courtroom cartoonist for the Belga agency, where he sensitively illustrates major Belgian trials, including the Brussels attacks.
