Jules AGARD (1905-1986)
PICASSO's ceramist for 22 years
Chat Chouette (owl cat), a unique Picasso work signed

Jules AGARD started in 1921 as a turner at Jérôme MASSIER's factory, run at the time by the Clergues. In April 1939, he was hired by MADOURA. In 1946, PICASSO came to Vallauris to the Nérolium, the town's agricultural hall, where an exhibition of "Pottery, Flowers, Perfumes" was being held, in which Jules AGARD was taking part.
As he was leaving Picasso said: "I'll be back - if you'll have me!" and he returned a year later. This marked the beginning of an extremely productive period. For 22 years, the two men worked together. All the pieces of pottery signed PICASSO, each unique, passed through the hands of Jules AGARD.

March 1971, PICASSO's last work.
Jules AGARD then launched his own production, producing zoomorphic pieces in red, white or chamotte clay.
But PICASSO's success with the pieces he had made himself drove him into paranoia and madness....

This work will be given with the certificate of origin.
