André Bucher (1924-2009) was a Swiss sculptor known for incorporating molten lava into his work, after a seminal encounter with volcanologist Haroun Tazieff. Trained at the Beaux-Arts in Zurich and Paris, he developed a powerful body of work combining bronze, steel and lava, exploring the forces of nature and creation. His monumental sculptures include those created for Patek Philippe and the commune of Cologny.
