Born in Antwerp to parents from Liège, including a father who was a senior officer, Renée Prinz, through family ups and downs, was a student at the Academies of Mons first, then Antwerp, and finally Namur from 1905. There she was a student of Nicolas Vanden Eden and then Désiré Merny, from whom she perhaps caught the bug for landscape painting, as she was primarily a landscape painter, even though she also produced portraits and still lifes (the City owns some).
In 1947, she was a member of the Atelier des Artistes mosans (Workshop of Mosan Artists) with Yvonne Gérard, Yvonne Perin, Albert Dandoy, Albert Houart, Georges Lambillotte and Louis-Marie Londot, whom others would later join. Encouraged by the authorities, they had a studio space on the upper floor of the Bourse de Commerce (the current Convention Centre, Place d'Armes) and received an annual operating grant.
Practicing oil painting and watercolor, Renée Prinz exhibited throughout Belgium, both solo and in group shows. In 1969, a retrospective exhibition was dedicated to her at the Maison de la Culture in Namur.
Bibliography, among others: "Dictionary of Belgian painters from the 14th century to the present day", Brussels, La Renaissance du Livre, 1995
"Visual Arts in the Province of Namur. 1945 - 1990" Brussels, Crédit Communal, 1991
