Painter, draftsman, engraver, etcher, illustrator.
Trained at the Academy of Namur. Student of A. Dandoy for drawing, Th. Baron for painting, and A. Danse for engraving. His favorite subjects were landscapes, cityscapes, rivers, figures, and folkloric scenes. He devoted more than 300 engravings and hundreds of drawings to old Namur. He favored a precise rendering of reality. Professor at the Academy of Namur from 1896 and at the Cadet School from 1920. Co-founder of "L'Estampe," president of the "Fédération des Artistes Wallons," and co-founder of periodicals such as "Joyeuse," "Les Jeunes," and the daily newspaper "Sambre et Meuse."
Mentioned in the "National Biography" of the Royal Academy of Belgium, Volume XXX. Mentioned in BAS I and in "Two Centuries of Signatures of Belgian Artists." Bibliography: "Dictionary of Belgian Visual Artists of the 19th and 20th Centuries"
