DANDOY, Auguste (Namur, 1839 - 1893)
Painter. Son of Jean-Baptiste and father of Albert Dandoy. Trained at the Academy of Namur under F. Marinus (1854-1857), then at the Academy of Brussels under Quinaux. Friend of Is. Verheyden.
He had a predilection for the landscapes of the Namur region and panoramas of the Meuse River. Antwerp and Maastricht also inspired him. He was a professor at the Academy of Namur from 1872 to 1893. He is mentioned in "Two Centuries of Signatures of Belgian Artists".
