Painting signed and dated 1945 in the lower right corner. Eugène Colignon was born on March 23, 1876, in Namur. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Namur, where he was a student of Désiré Merny (1865-1947). He continued his studies at the Brussels Academy under Isidore Verheyden. Eugène Colignon was influenced by the Tervuren School, by T. Baron, and by Neo-Impressionism. He excelled in depicting snowy landscapes. Eugène Colignon died in Beez on January 28, 1961.
