Beautiful Namur landscape from the 70s. We can see the grognon before the removal of the statue of Albert 1st, the Knight King. In the background, the roof of the belfry.
SAINT-SORNY, Pierre (Brussels, 1914)
Painter, draughtsman, pastelist, watercolourist, gouachist.
Training at the Academies of Brussels, Mons (1935-1936) and Ixelles. In retirement, he settled in the South of France, where the landscape is a source of fruitful inspiration. In 1946, he won the National Prize for the creation of Postage Stamps.
His favourite themes are landscapes, history paintings, sometimes narrative, with an expressionist or cubist touch, often of allegorical or symbolic tendency. Synthetic style, pure lines with black dark circles.
Bibliography: Dictionary of Visual Artists of Belgium of the 19th and 20th centuries Paul Piron
