Jean Dupont was born in Herseaux. From 1947 to 1952, he undertook painting studies in Mouscron, then at the Academy of Tournai, at the Academy of Saint-Gilles, and finally at the Van der Kelen and Logelain Institute.
Jean Dupont is a painter, poster and postage stamp designer, tapestry cartoonist whose works were produced at the Four workshops in Aubusson and at the Crecit factory in Tournai.
From 1957 to 1984, he was a professor at the Institute of Decorative Arts in Liège.
In 1975, he set up his workshop in Beaufays where he exhibited approximately every two years.
