Jean Dupont was born in Herseaux. From 1947 to 1952, he studied painting in Mouscron, then at the Academy of Tournai, the Academy of Saint-Gilles, and finally at the Van der Kelen and Logelain Institute.
Jean Dupont is a painter, poster and postage stamp designer, and tapestry maker produced at the Four workshops in Aubusson and the Crecit factory in Tournai.
From 1957 to 1984, he was a professor at the Institute of Decorative Arts in Liège.
In 1975, he set up his studio in Beaufays where he exhibits approximately every two years.
