Born in Florennes in 1926, Marcel Hubert studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Mons. There he obtained diplomas in painting, engraving and drawing. In 1955, he resided in a disused wagon, on a hill, on the road to Petit-Fays, a neighboring village. He moved a few years later to the Hostellerie de la Semois, in Vresse. Having financial difficulties, Marcel Hubert is a character often exploited, he likes to have a drink and very often at the end of the evening, he trades one of his paintings for a last drink. He left Vresse for Oisy in 1972 and made a living from his engravings. He died in September 1975.
